If you saw “Your Child in Their Hands” on Channel 5 on the 17 May (still available on catch up) you will have met Mick, Debbie & their little girl Eliza. Mick and 20 of his colleagues at Springfields are taking part in the Sam Houghton Mountain Bike Challenge on 11 June in support of Kidneys for Life. If you would like to support the team please follow this link:
Mike said “Our beautiful, brave 3 year old daughter Eliza, had one kidney removed at 9 months old & then her remaining kidney started to deteriorate and fail. After a time on dialysis I donated one of my kidneys to Eliza in September last year, and following a successful transplant we are both doing great!
The support of the Childrens Hospital Renal Team has been fantastic, both before and after transplant. For all North West children who have kidney problems, this is the unit where they will be treated. As a big thank you for the amazing work they have done, for Eliza and other kids in our area of the UK, we want to support them by raising money for the Kidneys for Life Charity.
What better a way than through gaining sponsorship for riders taking on this epic mountain bike marathon, the Sam Houghton Challenge – 30 miles with over 5,000 feet of climbing!
Thanks to Mick and the team for taking part in this challenge for Kidneys for Life it’s much appreciated. Irene at Kidneys for Life
