KFL Sunday Lunch 2025

What a wonderful afternoon we had at our recent Sunday Lunch event.

It was an absolute delight to welcome 120 guests to the Worsley Marriott – amongst those who attended were transplant, dialysis and CKD patients and we were delighted to be joined by KFL Trustees – Dr Afshin Tavakoli, Prof Sandip Mitra, Dr Ajay Dhaygude, Dr Raj Raman and Dr Amrit Kaur.

Special thanks to Professor Adrian Heald and Dr Amrit Kaur for their on the day speeches. Adrian provided feedback from a 2024 KFL funded research project – Novel biomarkers for chronic kidney disease (CKD) risk prediction in patientswith Type 2 diabetes: A pilot study in the Salford Diabetes Cohort whilst Amrit talked about a KFL funded patient event that all children under the care of RMCH renal department were invited to attend along with their siblings and caregivers – Kidney Karnival! We have received super feedback from both presentations and will certainly share updates from both these projects in 2026.

The event has raised an amazing £5500 with money still coming in. This is an amazing amount to have raised so thank you to all who attended and supported our fundraising on the day.

Photos on the day were very kindly taken by Isabelle Renshaw.

For 2026, and as Kidneys for Life celebrates turning 50, the Sunday Lunch will be replaced with a very special fundraising ball – details of this event will be shared over the coming weeks. If you are in a position to help with this event please do let us know!

It was truly wonderful to see so many Kidneys for Life supporters gathered in one room, to see new friendships being made and kidney journeys being told.
