KFL Afternoon Tea 2022

Over 2 years later than planned, we finally held the Kidneys for Life Afternoon Tea at The Kimpton Clocktower Hotel, Manchester on Sunday 26th June.

And what an afternoon is was with over 250 guests, a mix of patients, families and nursing staff.

KFL Trustee and Director of Research and Innovation at the Northern Care Alliance, Professor Phil Kalra, opened the event with a great speech which outlined the research that really is so vital to make progress in all areas of kidney disease.

Live music was provided courtesy of  paediatric nephrologist, Dr Dean Wallace and some of his Das Party band members. We also had brilliant speeches from Guy Bradburn and Dean Wallace. Transplant patient, Stephen Lim, spoke beautifully and shared his poem ‘I am the patient’ – there wasn’t a dry eye in the room…..

The sandwiches and cakes were enjoyed by all and our on the day raffle raised a superb £2096! Thank you to The Kimpton Clocktower for providing the main raffle prize (an overnight stay at The Kimpton),to Giraffe Flowers for the stunning bouquet of flowers, to Joanne Photography for the Studio Pet Photography vouchers and to  renal patient, Mike Crispin, for his amazing nursery rhyme inspired art print!
