Professor Phil Kalra

Phil Kalra Professor Phil Kalra was appointed consultant at Salford Royal in 1995 and now is the Director of Research & Innovation at the Northern Care Alliance.

He has clinical interests in CKD and renal transplantation and is the departmental research lead with a profile in research into renovascular disease and in cardiovascular disease in CKD. He was appointed Honorary Professor at the University of Manchester in 2009. He has supervised 16 renal specialist registrars to MD or PhD during the last decade and the local research programme currently involves multiple projects undertaken by 5 research fellows, one academic clinical fellow and one academic clinical lecturer.

He also has a major interest in education, being known to most candidates preparing for the MRCP and also for helping to initiate integrated education in both Cardiology and Nephrology.
